The Scottish Fisheries Museum holds around fourteen thousand negatives in its collection, many of which have remained unseen for some time. Developing: Knowledge reveals a selection of recently digitised negatives and offers an interesting opportunity for the public to contribute to our records. Set in the informal Tearoom Merchant’s Room gallery space, the Museum hopes to learn more about the images on display by asking the public to share their additional knowledge of the photographs. Can you recognise faces from the past, add dates or identify an event in the history of the town?
Developing: Knowledge is part of a Museums Galleries Scotland Recognition funded project to digitise, research, and widen access to the Scottish Fisheries Museum’s photographic collection. Over the next year we will be holding events and activities inspired by and celebrating our Recognised Collection.
