Community Kist’s Large Donation Goes to Seed…..

….and plants…and baskets….and soil….and everything needed to make Anstruther and Cellardyke areas that are vibrantly colourful floral masterpieces…

Elizabeth Gordon, the friendly master-mind behind The Community Kist, made the presentation of £1000 on June 18 to Anstruther & Cellardyke in Bloom, the green-fingered consortium of local community groups who produce the eye-catching floral displays of tubs, baskets, beds and boats throughout Anstruther and Cellardyke.  All of the floral displays are created and tended by various volunteer groups and individuals, with minimal funding from Fife Council.

Mrs. Gordon’s donation is the single biggest donation, and will join additional funds raised by the local community and businesses to put on this summer-time show of colour and floral variety.

Anstruther and Cellardyke — award winners in the past — will again participate in the 2018 Beautiful Fife competition, with judging taking place on July 19 as two judges tour the area to assess the overall floral displays within the two towns.  Households are encouraged to make their own colourful displays as tidied yards play host to such floral favourites as roses, clematis, azaleas, lupins, “pinks”,  and other favourites.
