New additions join old favourites at Anstruther Harbour Festival

The AHF Committee is especially happy to have a handicapped-accessible mini-bus for both Festival days, July 28/29, making round-trips from the parking area near the old Waid Academy to the Harbour Front. This has been on our “wish list” for a long time, and it will finally be a reality this year.

Jamie the Jester, Scotland’s Young Magician of the Year, will be at this year’s Anstruther Harbour Festival on both Festival days. Jamie is a  favourite of wee festival goers as they watch flat balloons suddenly expand to become animals, hats, swords — you name it! — all proudly carried about the harbour front by their new little owners.

More popular and repeat entertainers include Jaclyn Stuart, who will help kids to create crafts, and Larna Fox (“FoxiFaces”) who uses glitter paint to change little faces from recognisable little darlings into lions, tigers, ballerinas, butterflies and other magical beings.

A Junior Ceilidh on Saturday afternoon is a new kids’ activity, while Nackytoosh performs at the “grown up’s” ceilidh that evening.

Also new this year — among MANY new additions to the AHF —  are Sheila Kinninmonth and Beth Hamilton-Cardus, professional story-tellers who will be weaving tales of history, magic, adventures and daring-do on each day of the AHF,  a treat for all ages.

Brian Brelow, who is doing a kids’ afternoon disco on Sunday, is another new addition this year. Brian is well known in Anstruther and the East Neuk as he has dj’d  Anstruther’s Community Council Kid’s Christmas party at Erskine Hall for the past four years, and the kids enjoy dancing together as their families look on, join in, and snap photos.

These, and other AHF new additions are sure to entertain, even thrill (yes!!)  Festival visitors of all ages.  The Anstruther Harbour Festival web-page and FB is your location for up-to-date news as the Festival weekend gets closer.
